Jonathan So has more than 20 years of international business development. It is this experience that contributed to the establishment and great success of Creative Power Entertaining.
Founded in 2003, Creative Power Entertaining is the company behind the creation of China's hit animation series "Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf." The series is composed of more than 480 television episodes and was also turned into full length feature animated movies in 2009, 2010 and 2011. These films were in the top ten at the box office each year. Following that success, Jonathan also produced the record breaking animated movie "The Super Snail Adventure."
While at Creative Power Entertaining, Mr. So played a key role in providing the creative vision for the company's image and product and merchandise design while directing the company's financial and business management.
Jonathan has also written more than 150 children's books. He broke China's children's book and comic book sales records, with sales of Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf reaching over 40 million copies.
Jonathan's international experience has allowed him to see how students in both the US and China learn. Seeing an opportunity, he worked to develop a system that combined a modern teaching approach that features technology with high-participation learning groups to create Innovative Net Learning Limited.
Through partnering with schools in China, Innovative Net Learning Limited has developed a new learning strategy for the N-generation that features the use of iPad applications to take children through lessons in subjects like mathematics and English. Quizzes are also part of the program; the results of which are instantly linked to teachers, administrators and parents, so they can see in real time how the children are performing. Through these innovative learning apps, Innovative Net Learning Limited is able to bring "Edutainment & Learning Everywhere" and modernize the education system in China.
Jonathan's environmental awareness led him to invent single-use, environmentally friendly, decomposable food containers made from 100% natural materials. EATware® products made it possible for large organizations to replace Styrofoam use in their cafeterias and help remove excessive waste that is both harmful to and taxing on our planet. Many retail chains have also recognized this demand from consumers who also want to prevent the demise of our planet due to unnatural and unnecessary waste by carrying EATware® products and eliminating the sale of Styrofoam service ware.
In 1993, Jonathan established US JHI Corporation in Madison, Wisconsin, to provide opportunities for young designers and account managers to work with a number of renowned businesses in the United States. One of the most prolific companies that US JHI Corporation worked alongside was American Girl, previously known as Pleasant Company. Over 1,500 items were developed over the course of their business relationship.
JiJang World Corporation has developed a strong reputation of leading the manufacturing industry since its founding by the So family in 1970. During China's economic reform of 1979, the So's business was one of the first investors to establish a factory in mainland, Jiangsu Province China. In 1988, they further expanded their factories to Shenzhen and Shanghai, employing over 5000 workers. Under Mr. So's guidance, their family was able to establish the largest manufacturing facility in Shenzhen Da Peng District, Shenzhen. Their facility was the first fully air conditioned production line, creating a comfortable working environment for their employees.
Jijiang World Corporation has garnered orders from Europe, the United States and other over-seas markets. As the Chinese economy continued to gradually open, Jijiang World Corporation was able to produce a variety of consumer goods including toys, gifts, home products and garments.
In order to share the joy of reading with schools and children around the world, Jonathan So partnered with the City Charitable Foundation in May 2011 to donate books to under-privileged children. For the first stop on the book donation tour, Jonathan visited the Lonmenzhen Resort where he met with 100 underprivileged children and donated 300 books. This is a national effort with over 2,000 books being donated each month over the next two to three years. The plan calls for over 80,000 books at the cost of around one million yuan.
